IMD predicts no change in max temp; thunderstorms likely in Odisha districts

The southwest monsoon has further advanced into some parts of the Southwest Bay of Bengal, more parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, the entire Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and some parts of Eastcentral Bay of Bengal today.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) further informed that the cyclonic circulations over south Chhattisgarh and south Telangana have become less marked. The weather agency further said that there will be no large change in the maximum temperature (Day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The maximum temperature is likely to be 42 degrees C or more at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next five days.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Rayagada, and Kandhamal.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 31.05.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Khordha.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2023)
