IMD predicts heavy rainfall in 8 Odisha districts this weekend

The cyclonic circulation over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and the adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh coast has become less marked, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

As per the IMD, several parts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm activities in the next couple of days.

Similarly, some districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall activities during the weekend. A yellow warning in this regard has also been issued.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 10.07.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati. 

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.07.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 11.07.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.07.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 14.07.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal.
