People across Odisha are eagerly waiting for the onset of Monsoon as hot and humid conditions are causing all sorts of inconvenience to people.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that the conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra (including Mumbai), Telangana, remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of south Chhattisgarh and South Odisha during the next 3-4 days.

Apart from this, there would be a gradual rise in maximum temperature (day temperature) by 2 to 3 degrees C during the next 3 days and no large change is expected thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

IMD has also issued a forecast for thunderstorm activities while a yellow alert has also been issued for heat wave conditions.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada. Hot and humid weather condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 10.06.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition is likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Sonepur, Boudh.
