The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning in 9 Odisha districts in the next 24 hours.

As per the forecast, the alert has been issued for the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, and Sonepur.

Apart from thunderstorm, the IMD has also predicted that hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, and Bolangir as well.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabwarangpur.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur and hail with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.02.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.03.2024)

Light rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput.

As per IMD, there would be no large change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next 4-5 days.
