Forecast

Light/moderate & fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/snowfall is likely over Western Himalayan Region and light to moderate, scattered to widespread rainfall is expected over the plains of northwest India on January 29 and 30.

Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is likely over Western Himalayan Region on January 29 and 30. Isolated hailstorm is expected over Himachal Pradesh on 29th; over Uttarakhand on January 29 and 30; over East Rajasthan on 28 and 29 and over West Rajasthan on January 29.

Another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from February 1, 2023.

Low Pressure Update

A cyclonic circulation lies over east Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining east Equatorial Indian Ocean around January 27, 2023. It is likely to move west-north-westwards slowly during the subsequent three days.

Cold Wave

Cold Wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab and West Rajasthan during the next 48 hours and over Saurashtra and Kutch during next 24 hours.
