The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted shallow to moderate fog to prevail in several parts of Odisha in the next 48 hours. There has been a sudden rise in the day (maximum) temperature in some parts of the state in the last couple of days.

The IMD has also predicted an increase in the minimum (night) temperature as well. As per the monthly outlook issued by the IMD, Odisha will experience above normal temperature in the month of February.

Forecast

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 08.02.2023): Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.02.2023 up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.02.2023): Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Kandhamal Nayagarh Cuttack Jagatsinghpur Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur.

In another development, the IMD has predicted that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of February 8 2023. Under its influence, light isolated rainfall/snowfall is very likely to occur over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on February 8.

Isolated light rainfall is also likely over north Punjab on February 9 and 10. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & hail is very likely in isolated pockets over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya on February 7.
