The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted extremely heavy rainfall activities in several Indian states.

As per the IMD’s latest forecast, extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next two days and decrease thereafter.

The weather bureau further said isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Haryana and Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh during next three days.

Northwest India: Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh during July 26th-29th.

Central India: Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over the region during 26th-29th July. Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Chhattisgarh during 26th-28th July

West India: Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 26th-29th July and isolated heavy rainfall over Gujarat Region and Marathwada on 26th & 27th July, 2023.

South India: Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka during 26th-28th; South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka on 26th & 27th.

East India: Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha during 26th-30th; Sub-Himalaya West Bengal & Sikkim during 26th-28th July and over Jharkhand & Bihar on 29th & 30th July, 2023.
