The India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar predicted thunderstorm and lightning activity along with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days in Odisha.

The met centre has issued yellow warnings for March 9 and 10 on account of thunderstorm and lightning.

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 08.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.03.2023 up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.03.2023 up to 0830 Hrs IST of 10.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Kalahandi and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 10.03.2023 up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.03.2023)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur.

The maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to be above normal by 2-3 degrees C at many places over the districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days.
