IMD issues yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning in Odisha districts

Thunderstorm Alert For Odisha Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorm activities in several parts of Odisha. The yellow alert for various parts of the state will remain valid till June 9.

The thunderstorm activities are likely to provide some respite to people who are reeling under intense heat and humid conditions for the past several days.

Weather Forecast And Warning

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 07.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Kandhamal. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, and Dhenkanal.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
