The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning in as many as eight districts of Odisha. The alert has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Koraput.

Apart from this, light to moderate rain is also likely to occur in several parts of the state in the next 24 hours. IMD has also predicted a rise in the maximum temperature in Odisha.

“No large change in Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is expected during the next 3 days and subsequently, there will be a gradual rise by 3-4° C during the next 3 days,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 13.04.2024)

Light rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal.
