Heavy rain across Odisha
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across several districts in Odisha on Friday and Saturday.
As per the forecast, rainfall activity is likely to intensify in parts of the state, with wind speeds reaching up to 30–40 kmph. Meanwhile, light showers continued in coastal regions such as Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, and Kendrapara, offering some respite from the prevailing heat and humidity. Similar conditions are likely to persist until August 11.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as the weather conditions may pose risks to small boats and fishing activities.
The recent rainfall has brought hope to farmers across Odisha. A lack of rain had led to drought-like conditions in farmlands, raising fears of crop damage. With the prediction of rain, farmers are optimistic that their crops will survive.
Continuous rainfall has affected daily routines in many parts of the state. In Jagatsinghpur, residents have reported difficulties due to the persistent showers. While the rain has brought relief from the heat, it has also led to waterlogging and slowed down regular activities.
