IMD issues orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha

Widespread light to moderate rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Odisha during the next five days, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

As per IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over East Central Bay of Bengal adjoining Myanmar Coast. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 72 hours.

Day-1: (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 12.09.23)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul and Dhenkanal.

Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sundergarh and heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, and Kalahandi.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, and Cuttack.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh.
