IMD issues orange warning for heatwave, yellow warning for thunderstorm activities in Odisha districts

PUBLISHED: LAST UPDATE:

The IMD issued an orange warning for severe heatwave conditions and a yellow warning for thunderstorms across various districts of Odisha. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate, initially maintaining the current highs before dropping slightly.

Heat Wave Conditions

There will be no major change in maximum temperature (Day Temperature) during the next 24 hours. However, the mercury is likely to gradually fall by 2-3°C during the subsequent 3 days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

As per IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to again rise by 2-3°C thereafter at many places over the district of Odisha. Currently, people in different parts of Odisha are experiencing intense heatwave conditions.

"Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, the day temperature is very likely to be 40°C or above at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during next 24 hours," said IMD.
