IMD issues orange alert for severe heatwave conditions in some Odisha districts; thunderstorms also likely

IMD issues orange warning for heatwave in Odisha districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an ‘orange warning’ for heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in different parts of Odisha.

Apart from this, a yellow warning for hot and humid conditions has also been issued for some districts of the state. IMD has also predicted thunderstorm activities in various parts of the state in the next couple of days.

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.06.2024)

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave and warm night conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Boudh.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Nuapada and Malkangiri.

Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati and Keonjhar.

Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam and Gajapati.

Orange Warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave and warm night conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Sambalpur, Kalahandi and Sonepur.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Boudh and Kandhamal.
