Orange warning for thunderstorm, lightning issued for Odisha districts
A trough in westerlies runs from south Gangetic West Bengal to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday. Several parts of Odisha experienced light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activities in the past 24 hours.
In its latest weather forecast, IMD has predicted that there will be no large change in the minimum temperature (night temperature) during next 4-5 days over the districts of Odisha.

Moreover, several parts of Odisha will continue to experience thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 50-60 kmph and hail in the next couple of days. An orange warning has been issued by the IMD.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and hail is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.02.2025)
Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph and hail very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.02.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.02.2025)
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore.
