The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert for hailstorms and thunderstorms in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
As per the latest weather forecast, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajapur, Kendrapada, and Keonjhar in the next 24 hours.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speeds reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Kendrapada.
There is also the possibility of hailstorms at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Bolangir, and Nuapada.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.04.2023)
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Jajpur, and Bhadrak.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.04.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 10.04.2023)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Boudh, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak.
