Under the influence of a well-marked low pressure area over south Odisha coast and adjoining areas and strong monsoon flow, squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching up to 45 to 55 kmph is likely over the sea off Odisha coast adjoining west-central and North-west Bay of Bengal till July 16, 2022.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of the state during the period as well.

IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar has also issued ‘Orange and Yellow’ warning for several districts. Earlier, several districts in the state had received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Orange warning (be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Ganjam and Nayagarh.

Yellow warning (be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Rayagada, Gajapati, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar.

Day-2: Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 13.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 14.07.22.)

Yellow warning (be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Nuapada ,Bolangir and Bargarh.

Yellow warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Khordha, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Deogarh and Kalahandi.

Day-4: Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 15.07.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 16.07.22)

Orange warning (be prepared): Heavy to very heavy (7 to 20cm) rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Bolangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Deogarh.

Yellow warning (be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Angul, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
