The Special Relief Commissioner’s (SRC) office on Monday directed district Collectors, SPs and Transport officials to remain alert in view of the dense fog warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in several parts of Odisha in the next couple of days. Apart from dense fog, the IMD has also predicted light to moderate rain in different parts of the state.

Due to trough in easterlies from South Interior Karnataka to south Chhattisgarh and anti-cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal in the lower levels, light rainfall at isolated places likely over Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal during next 4-5 days, said IMD.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 23.01.2024)

Light to moderate rain\thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Sonepur, Boudh and at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sambalpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.01.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.01.2024)

Light to moderate rain\thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and North Coastal Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.01.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.01.2024)

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
