Heavy rainfall, thunderstorm alert for Odisha districts till August 18; IMD issues yellow warning

As per IMD, several parts of the state are likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activities till August 18, 2024.

Rainfall Alert Issued By IMD For Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted enhanced rainfall activities in Odisha in the coming days. As per IMD, several parts of the state are likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activities till August 18, 2024.

A yellow alert has also been issued for several districts by the IMD.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand and neighbourhood and another cyclonic circulation over east Bangladesh and neighbourhood. The Monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Sikar, Gwalior, Sidhi, Ranchi, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal,” said IMD.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 14.08.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.08.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 16.08.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh ,Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur.
