Even though there has been change in the weather conditions after several parts of Odisha experienced heavy rainfall activities triggered by depression over north Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological department has predicted more rain in coming days.

IMD scientist Umashankar Das on Monday said that though the intensity of rainfall will come down in the next 48 hours, there is possibility of heavy rainfall activities for a period of two days starting from August 17, 2022. Another low pressure system is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around August 19, 2022.

According to Das, several parts of interior and western Odisha including Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada and Sundargarh will experience enhanced rainfall activities and a yellow warning has been issued today.

As per IMD, the depression is currently active  over Northwest Chhattisgarh and adjoining East Madhya Pradesh about 20 km southwest of Pendra Road (Chhattisgarh). It will continue to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually during next 12 hours.
