The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued heavy rainfall alert for several Indian states.

As per the weather agency, an intense spell of rainfall is very likely to continue along west coast during the next four days and subdued rainfall activity over Northwest and adjoining Central India till June 26, 2022.

Isolated very heavy rainfall occurred over Coastal Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal in the past 24 hours.

Rainfall/thunderstorm Forecast & Warnings:

Under the influence of setting in of lower level easterlies, rainfall activity is likely to increase over Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh from June 27, 2022.

Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh during June 27-28.

Under the influence of the off-shore trough, a middle-level cyclonic circulation over East-central Arabian Sea off Maharashtra coast and strong westerly winds along the west coast in lower tropospheric levels, widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over south Gujarat state during June 24 to 27; ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra till June 26 and over North Interior Karnataka on June 25 and; over South Interior Karnataka for two days till June 26.

Under the influence of southerly/southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast & adjoining East India: Widespread rainfall is very likely over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 5 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 5 days.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during June 26 to June 28 and over Arunachal Pradesh on June 27 and 28.
