The Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Sunday issued an advisory of heavy/intense spell of rainfall for the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

As per IMD, a few spells of light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with one or two spells of intense (2-3cm/hour) rainfall is likely to occur over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city. The warning will remain valid till 2230 hours today.

As per the Met advisory, the intense spell of rainfall might trigger temporary traffic congestion and waterlogging in low-lying pockets in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, the Depression has formed over south coastal Odisha and neighbourhood at 0530 hrs today. The system is about 80 km east-southeast of Bhawanipatna (Odisha), 110 km west-northwest of Gopalpur (Odisha), 210 km east-northeast of Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) and 260 km east-southeast of Kanker (Chhattisgarh).

It is likely to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha and south Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours and weaken gradually.

The monsoon trough runs south of its normal position. It is likely to remain so during the next three days. A cyclonic circulation lies over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off south Maharashtra-Goa coasts at lower tropospheric levels.

Wind warning

Squally winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph are very likely to prevail over northwest and westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off north Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal coasts on September 11 and 12.

Sea condition

Sea condition will be rough to very rough over northwest & westcentral Bay of Bengal and along & off Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal coasts on September 11 and September 12, 2022.
