Heavy rain to lash several Odisha districts for 3 more days: IMD
The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted that Odisha will continue to experience rainfall for the next three days under the influence of a low-pressure area formed over the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast. The weather system is expected to intensify rainfall activities, particularly across southern Odisha districts.
The Met department issued a yellow warning for as many as 20 districts for Saturday, forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph are also likely to lash several areas.
Officials warned that such weather conditions may affect normal life and advised people to remain cautious, especially in hilly and low-lying regions prone to landslides and waterlogging. Farmers and fishermen have also been asked to take necessary precautions during this period.
The Met Centre further stated that heavy rainfall activity is likely to persist in different parts of the state till August 19. With continuous showers already reported in several regions over the past two days, the fresh forecast has heightened concerns of flooding, road blockages, and disruption of communication in vulnerable areas.
