No respite in sight from the blistering Sun god for the next 96 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday has sounded a heatwave alert for several districts in Odisha.

The local Met centre has issued a ‘yellow warning’ predicting the prevalence of heatwave like conditions in the State for the next three to four days.

“The Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to rise gradually by 3 to 5 degrees C at many places over the districts in interior Odisha, though no large change is predicted for the coastal Odisha during the next two days,” said an IMD release.

Light rain/ thunderstorm is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri in the next 24 hours.
