Another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of February 8, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

As per IMD, light to moderate and widespread rainfall/snowfall is very likely over Western Himalayan Region from February 8 to 10 with peak intensity on February 9 and thunderstorms and lightning on February 10. Isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is also likely over Kashmir Valley on February 9, 2023.

Similarly, light/moderate rainfall is likely to occur over Punjab on February 9 and 10. Thunderstorm with lightning and hail is very likely in isolated pockets over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya during February 6 and 7.

Minimum Temperature and Dense Fog Forecast

There is a possibility of a fall in the minimum temperatures by 2-3 degree Celsius over several parts of Northwest India during the next 48 hours and a rise subsequently. There will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over many parts of Central India during the next three days.

Dense to very dense fog is likely in isolated pockets during night/morning hours over Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Dense fog will prevail in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during the next 48 hours.
