Heavy rainfall likely to lash Odisha; yellow warning issued
Several parts of Odisha are experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall activities for the past one week. However, the situation is not likely to improve as IMD has predicted formation of a fresh low pressure area.
As per the forecast, the fresh low pressure area is likely to form over the East central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal on August 29, 2024. The low pressure is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, said IMD.
As per IMD, Odisha will experience an active wet spell from August 28 to August 31. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for seven Odisha districts for heavy rainfall today.
Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Bargarh, Angul ,Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Puri, Jagatsinghpur.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 29.08.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.08.2024)
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.08.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 31.08.2024)
Orange Warning: Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput .
