This year, the arrival of monsoon will be so late that Odisha will have to experience a dry Raja, informed India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Going by the latest prediction of IMD, there is very little chance of monsoon rains in Odisha for next few days. Dry weather will prevail over the districts of Odisha during 3-day Raja festival.

Confirming the news, senior scientist of IMD RK Jenamani said “There is least chance of monsoon reaching Odisha in next five days. The monsoon winds have touched Bay of Bengal and also southern India. However, it has hardly any chance of arrival before June 12-13. We can say monsoon will not make its presence felt during the three-day Raja festival in Odisha. Latest prediction on monsoon arrival can be made on June 11 following which it can be said whether Odisha will have a dry Raja or not.”

Usually, the monsoon after reaching Kerala takes around 10 days to reach Odisha. Generally monsoon reaches Kerala by June 1 and it reaches Odisha by June 10. This year, it is delayed and is taking more time to reach the state.
