The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday informed that the depression further weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Telangana, adjoining south Chhattisgarh, south interior Odisha, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, the severe cyclonic storm Michaung over the west-central Bay of Bengal along and off south Andhra Pradesh coast moved north-westwards and crossed the south Andhra Pradesh coast close to the south of Bapatla as a severe cyclonic storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 90-100 kmph gusting up to 110 kmph yesterday.

As per IMD, light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh today.

The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada. The alert will remain valid till December 7th morning, the IMD’s bulletin read.

Meanwhile, several parts of Odisha including the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar experienced light to moderate rainfall under the influence of the system today.
