Dense to very dense fog is likely to continue over northwest and parts of adjoining central India during the next 3-4 days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

As per the IMD, dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to continue in the early hours in several parts of Punjab from December 27 to December 31, 2023. Some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to experience dense fog for the next three days.

Dense fog conditions are also very likely to continue in the early hours in isolated pockets over Odisha, Uttarakhand on December 27 and 28; Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on December 30 & 31, over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during December 27 to December 31, 2023.

IMD has further informed that a fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from December 30. Under its influence and its interaction with lower-level easterly winds, light isolated rainfall is likely over northwest & adjoining central India between December 30 and January 2, 2024.
