Less than a month after very severe cyclonic storm Mocha struck the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast leaving a trail of destruction, another cyclonic circulation is brewing in the southeast Arabian Sea.  

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over southeast Arabian Sea around June 5. The system may intensify into a low pressure during the subsequent 48 hours.

"A Cyclonic Circulation likely to develop over southeast Arabian Sea around #5th June. Under its influence a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during subsequent 48 hours," IMD Bhubaneswar scientist Umashankar Das tweeted. 

Meanwhile, the grueling heatwave conditions continue to prevail in Odisha throwing the lives of people out of gear. In view of the heatwave conditions, the IMD has issued Yellow Warning for five days.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023): YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2023): YELLOW WARNING:- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati. 

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 04.06.2023): YELLOW WARNING:- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 05.06.2023): YELLOW WARNING:- Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Koraput, Rayagada, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore.

Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 06.06.2023): YELLOW WARNING:- Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam.

On the other hand, the weather bureau has stated that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some parts of South Arabian Sea, Maldives & Comorin area and some more parts of South Bay of Bengal & Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
