The Odisha government has cancelled government holidays and leave of government employees in view of impending cyclonic storm Yaas.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, the government holidays and leave of government servants have been cancelled till May 31 by the order of the Governor.

“The IMD has informed that a low pressure area has been formed over east-central Bay of Bengal on 22nd May2021, which is likely to intensify into aVery Severe Cyclonic Storm by 24th May, 2021 and reach West Bengal & northOdisha around evening of 26th May, 2021. This cyclonic storm is likely toseverely affect the coastal as well as the adjoining Districts,” the notification said. 

“In order to expedite pre-cyclonic arrangements and ensure postcyclonic rescue and relief operations in the vulnerable districts and to facilitateunaffected districts and state level offices to provide human resource, materialand logistics support to the affected districts, it is imperative that all the State Government offices and officials remain in a state of readiness,” the notification added.  

The GA department said all the government officials are required to stay in respective headquarters and in no case, shall be permitted to leave headquarters without express permission of the authority.
