A low pressure area has formed over the southeast and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.

The IMD’s Bhubaneswar regional centre took to Twitter and shared the news of formation of the low pressure area.

As per the earlier prediction of the weather bureau, the system is likely to move west-northweswards and concentrate into a depression by October 22 morning over the central Bay of Bengal.

It is very likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm over westcentral BoB during the subsequent 48.
