The Regional Meteorological Centre at Bhubaneswar on Monday informed that the depression over the Bay of Bengal has weakened into a well-marked pressure and is likely to further weaken into a low pressure area (LPA) in the subsequent six hours.

The weather office further predicted that although light to moderate rainfall is likely to lash some parts of Odisha today, dry weather is expected in the State tomorrow. Similarly, night temperature is likely to drop by three to four degrees from tonight.

“The depression (remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘JAWAD’) over northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha coast moved northeastwards and weakened into well-marked low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh at 5.30 am,” said the Regional Met Centre.

“It is likely to move northeastwards and weaken further into a low-pressure area during the next six hours,” informed the IMD office.

Rainfall Forecast and warnings:

Under its impact, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at isolated places over the rest of Odisha for 24 hours. However, there is no rainfall warning today.

Wind warning:

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph will prevail over northwest Bay of Bengal and along and off north Odisha coast during next six hours.

Sea conditions:

Rough to very rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over northwest Bay of Bengal and along & off north Odisha and coasts during the next six hours.

Fishermen Warning:

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into northwest Bay of Bengal, along & off Odisha coast till morning of December 6.
