In view of the cyclone Jawad, which is fast approaching the Puri coast, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has issued an advisory for the residents of the Twin Cities (Bhubaneswar, Cuttack).

Advisory follows:

Day-1: Valid between 0830 Hrs IST of 04.12.21 to 0830 Hrs IST of 05.12.21

Cloudy sky is likely to prevail with a few intense spells (2-3cm/Hr) of rain very likely to occur over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur in some parts of Bhubaneswar & Cuttack city area.

Orange Warning:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area.

Heavy rain: 7-11cm

Very Heavy:11-20cm

Wind warning: 60 to 70 kmph, gusting to 80 kmph

Possible impact and action suggested:

-Water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses

-Occasional reduction in visibility during Intense spells of rain

-Disruption of traffic due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time

-Breaking of tree branches

The Met Centre has advised to check for traffic congestion along the route before leaving for the destination and to follow the related traffic advisories issued by the authorities. It also advised to avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.

Similar cloudy skies with a few spells of rain with one or two Intense spells (2-3cm/Hr) of rain is very likely to occur over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area.

Yellow Warning:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to our on some parts of Cuttack city area and heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Bhubaneswar city area. The impact of the weather and the action suggested remain the same as the previous day (Nov 4, 2021).
