Cyclone Dana Wind speed likely to reach 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph
October 24 and 25 are going to be crucial days for the people in Odisha as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed about an impending cyclone threat.
As per the IMD, the low pressure area over the East-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over the east-central Bay of Bengal and will intensify into a depression by October 22 morning.
Subsequently, it will intensify into a cyclonic storm on October 23, 2024, over the east-central Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic storm will be named Dana.
“Thereafter, it is very likely to move northwest-wards and reach the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coast by 24th October morning. Continuing to move northwest-wards, it is very likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of 24th and early morning on 25th October, 2024 as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph,” said IMD.
Wind Warning:
East-central Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speed reaching 35-45 gusting to 65 kmph is very likely on the 21st of October, 55-65 gusting to 75 kmph by the 22nd evening, 70-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph from the 23rd evening till 24th morning.
Adjoining areas of Westcentral Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speed reaching 45-55 gusting to 65 kmph is very likely on the 23rd and 24th of October.
North Bay of Bengal: Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to commence from the 23rd morning. It would gradually increase becoming gale wind speed reaching 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph from 24th Oct evening to 25th Oct morning and decrease thereafter.
Along & off Odisha-west Bengal coasts: Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to commence from 23rd Oct evening. It would gradually increase becoming gale wind speed reaching 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph from 24th October night till 25th Oct morning.
