Cyclone Dana To Trigger Heavy Rainfall, IMD Issues Red Alert For Odisha
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday revised its red-warning earlier issued for heavy rainfall in view of the probable severe cyclonic storm which is likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the night of October 24 and early morning on October 25, 2024.
It will cross as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph and it will be named Dana.
The cyclonic storm Dana is likely to trigger heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha on October 24 and October 25.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.10.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 25.10.2024)
Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack.
Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Puri, Ganjam, Khordha, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.10.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.10.2024)
Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj.
Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh.
