The extreme cold wave conditions continued to sweep Odisha with most parts of the State witnessing significant fall in the night temperature.
As per the latest temperature count released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today, 17 places in the State recorded temperature below as low as 10 degree Celsius.
Kandhamal district continued to shiver with intense ice-cold chill nights. Phulbani recorded the season’s coldest night as mercury plunged to 3.6 degree Celsius.
Daringbadi, the Kashmir of Odisha, registered a minimum temperature of 4.5 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda (6), Sundergarh (6), Keonjhar (6.4), Sonepur (6.4), Titilagarh (6.5), Bhawanipatna (6.8) and Koraput (7).
Other stations where temperature plunged to below 10 degree are Boudh (8), Angul (8), Hirakud (8.4), Bolangir (8.5), Sambalpur (8.6), Nayagarh (9), Talcher (9) and Chandbali (9.7).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperature of 10.1 degree Celsius and 10.6 degree Celsius respectively.
Yesterday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the minimum temperature will remain below normal by 5 to 6 degree Celsius in the districts of interior Odisha and by 4 to 5 degrees in the districts of coastal Odisha during the next 3 days.
The IMD has also issued an ‘Orange warning’ for isolated cold wave to severe cold wave conditions for seven districts in the State. These districts are Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sonepur and Boudh.
