Despite cloudy weather, the maximum temperature neared 44 degrees mark in Bhubaneswar on Monday. As per the IMD, the Capital city recorded the highest maximum or the day temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius by 2:30 pm today.

Bhubaneswar was relatively hotter than other places in Odisha during this time period. Apart from Bhubaneswar, 17 places recorded maximum temperature above 40 degrees today.

“Due to the prevailing mainly Nor-westerly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, day temperature is very likely to likely to be 40°C or above at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours,” said IMD.

IMD further informed that the maximum temperature is likely to fall by 2-3°C during the next 3 days in Odisha and gradually rise by 2-3°C during the subsequent 2 days at many places over the districts in the state.

Yellow Warning: Heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Boudh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Nuapada.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 KMPH is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.04.2024)

Yellow Warning: Hot and humid weather condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh.
