As predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), mercury has started to peak again in Odisha. By 11:30 am on Sunday, Bhubaneswar was the hottest place in the state. As per IMD, the mercury touched the 37.4 degree C in Bhubaneswar before noon today.

Apart from Bhubaneswar, 11 places recorded a maximum temperature above 34 degrees by 11:30 am today.

Earlier, the IMD had predicted a rise in the maximum temperature in different parts of Odisha. The maximum temperature is likely to register an increase by 5 to 6 degrees in the state, IMD said.

A yellow warning for heatwave has also been issued by the IMD for several districts in Odisha.
