The capital city of Odisha saw a significant spike in day temperature as the heat wave spell intensified across the State. On Thursday, the day temperature in Bhubaneswar shot up to 43.6° C making it the hottest place in the state.

After Bhubaneswar, Boudh was the second hottest city with 43.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Angul (43.3 degrees Celsius), Jharsuguda ( 42.8 degrees Celsius), Baripada (42.6 degrees Celsius), Titlagarh, Malkangiri and Khordha ( 42.5 degrees Celsius each).  

The Bhubaneswar Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for six districts on account of expected heat wave. The districts are Nuapada, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Khordha and Cuttack. 

The IMD has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during daytime between 11 AM and 3 PM. The weather department has also predicted thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind at speed reaching 30-40 KMPH from April 20.
