Another Low Pressure Likely Around September 5
With several parts of Odisha experiencing enhanced rainfall activities, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed that a fresh low pressure is likely to form around September 5, 2024.
As per the latest forecast, the fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5.
IMD informed that so far Odisha has received 837.6mm of rainfall against its normal value of 931.9mm from June 1 to September 1, 2024. During the period, 1 district received excess rainfall while the overall rainfall was normal in 20 districts of the state. Nine districts received deficient rainfall.
There would be a gradual drop in rainfall activities in Odisha in the next couple of days. However, some districts may experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorm activities. Moreover, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of the state from September 5 onwards.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.09.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 07.09.2024)
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati.
