WATCH: Man caught with girlfriend by wife during Karwa Chauth shopping, thrashed in public

Karwa Chauth is celebrated by Indian women for long life of husband and a happy married life. However, the festival turned disaster for a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after she caught her husband shopping with his girlfriend on Karwa Chauth eve.

A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media, in which the wife along with her family members can be seen thrashing her husband after catching him red-handed with his girlfriend during Karwa Chauth shopping.

As seen in the video, when the man's girlfriend tries to come to his rescue, she also gets thrashed while one of the women’s sisters is seen capturing the incident on her phone. Towards the end of the video, some passersby can be seen intervening to stop the woman from thrashing the man and his girlfriend. The woman can be heard saying that her husband is shopping with his girlfriend. The man can also be heard saying that they have filed for divorce. But the wife and her family member say that their divorce is not finalised yet.

According to reports, the couple has problems and they have been living separately. On Karwa Chauth, she had come to shop with her mother when she spotted her husband with another woman.

Reportedly, the city police reached the spot after getting information about the matter and took the couple along with other women into custody. City Kotwal Amit Kumar Khari told that the husband has been challaned for breach of peace while his girlfriend was left with a warning.

For the unversed, Karwa Chauth is celebrated on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha or dark fortnight in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik. Karwa Chauth is primarily celebrated in the northern part of India, and married women observe a fast for prosperity, safety, and the long life of their husbands.
