Despite numerous awareness drives and fines, people do not seem to obey the rule which makes using a mobile phone while driving or riding a vehicle a punishable offence.

A Honda Activa rider in Rajasthan came to know the perils of disobeying the rule the hard way.

The video of this particular accident has been shared on YouTube by Prateek Singh on his channel. The creator of the video mentions that this video is a dashcam footage of a Kia Seltos which was rear-ended by a Honda Activa scooter rider. He adds that the video has been shared by the owner of the vehicle and it took place in Jaipur Rajasthan.

The dashcam's footage clearly shows the Seltos driver was traveling at a regular speed on the highway. Subsequently, the driver activates the turn indicator, which is audible in the background. He starts to move left after turning on the turn signals. Nevertheless, at this point, a Honda Activa driver fails to spot the vehicle and hits the rear of the Seltos. Soon later, the Activa rider gets a reprimand from the car's owner who comes out to inspect the damage to his vehicle.

If watched carefully, it can be observed that the rider of the Honda Activa was distracted by his smartphone while riding the scooter. In the video, it can be seen that the rider has his right hand on the handlebar but his left hand was holding his phone. He was looking at the phone and not the road ahead. When the Seltos driver turned right the scooter rider did not notice as he was busy with the mobile phone and crashed into the rear end of this vehicle. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet and despite falling, he did not get severely hurt.

From the footage, it appears that the two-wheeler rider is solely to be blamed for the collision. However, this won’t be entirely right. It is evident that the driver of the Seltos initially passed the scooter rider before turning on the turn signals. While it can seem common to some, it is advised that if a turn needs to be made, the person should wait for any other vehicle on the turning side to pass before taking a turn.

In this instance, the driver of the Kia should have waited for the Activa rider to cross before turning.
