Her own home was made a living hell for a 73-year-old woman by her own son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. She was mercilessly tortured and thrashed by his son and his family, whom she cared for and educated enough to make him a lawyer.
The inhumane act, reported from Ropar's Giani Zail Singh Nagar in the heart of Punjab, was caught on CCTV. The visuals of the disturbing incident have been going viral on social media platforms. The video shows the elderly woman being tortured and mercilessly beaten by them.
The lawyer was finally arrested based on the CCTV evidence that he had himself installed in his mother’s room.
According to sources, the woman has been identified as Asha Rani. She lived with her son, daughter, and daughter-in-law after her husband’s death due to a heart attack.

Since then, her son Anukur Verma and his wife Sudha used to assault her. After failing to bear the torture, the elderly woman narrated her ordeal to her daughter Deepshikha who managed to get hold of the CCTV footage and was shocked by what she saw.
The horrific video shows the victim’s grandson pouring water on Asha Rani’s bed and complaining to his parents that she had wet the bed. Then the lawyer and his wife are seen allegedly assaulting the elderly woman as they continuously punch and slap her.
The lawyer holds the elderly woman by her hair and jolts her head repeatedly. This continues for several minutes until the elderly woman resists.
Another video shows the woman’s daughter-in-law and her grandson dragging her on the floor. Based on a complaint filed by Deepshikha, an NGO rescued the elderly woman while her son was arrested.
