Lightning strike

A video of a lightning strike on a clock tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has taken the internet by storm. The video, which has now gone viral, caught the attention of netizens.

As seen in the video, the lightning strike illuminates the sky in a spectacular way.

A Twitter user named Mulham H, a scholar of astronomy at the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah (as per his Twitter bio), shared the video on the micro-blogging site.

“A little while ago, a lightning strike struck… God made it a useful right for the country and servants,” Mulham H tweeted.

Over 1.4 million people have already watched the video since it was posted on Twitter on August 5. However, did lightning actually struck the clock tower?

Some Twitteratis shared a slow-motion version of the video which demonstrates that the lightning actually did not impact the Mecca clock tower.
