Matrimonial advertisements often catch our attention for their unique preferences, but a recent newspaper ad took the cake for its intriguing request.

The ad in question sought a groom specifically for a "short marriage," leaving many curious about its meaning.

Shared by journalist Tanishka Sodhi, the ad, posted by a Mumbai-based family, sought an affluent groom for their smart and educated Brahmin divorcee daughter.

“Wanted groom from an affluent family from Mumbai for a short marriage, Brahmin Divorcee girl, smart, educated, 1989, 5’7″ girl running her own hospitality business in Mumbai,” the ad read.

The wording of the ad sparked a wave of humour and confusion online, with netizens coming up with various interpretations. Here’s how netizens responded:

While some comments playfully suggested completing the wedding rituals in just four rounds, others speculated that the term "short marriage" could refer to the girl's height being 5'7".

Some even drew inspiration from the series 'Made In Heaven,' referencing its portrayal of short-lived marriages and  humorously remarked, “Made In Heaven S3."

However, a more reasonable interpretation came from the fourth user, “The ad may have a wording error. They might have meant a marriage with a brief duration or simple setup, not necessarily a marriage that will be short-lived.”
