Kaccha houses or traditional mud houses have remained a staple of rural Indian architecture for centuries in India. These eco-friendly mud houses are made from a mixture of mud, clay, and natural materials like straw and bamboo. There are multiple benefits of mud houses including natural insulation, minimal maintenance, cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing and unique designs. These often feature curved lines, sloping roofs, and intricate designs.

Generally, these mud houses are single-storey for various factors. Structural integrity, load-bearing capacity and traditional construction techniques are a few of the essential factors for which traditional mud houses are often single-storey. But, have you ever seen a two-storey traditional mud house?

Well, recently, a video has stormed the internet that shows a two-storey traditional mud house, intricately designed. And, it is not in China or any other country. The mud house is erected in an Indian village in Madhya Pradesh.

As seen in the video, the travel vlogger was welcomed by a family to their traditional mud house consisting of two floors. As narrated by the vlogger in the video, amid scorching heat, she decided to stop near one of the houses to drink water while she was touring the village on her scooter. She was greeted by a woman, a resident of the village, with water and she also gave a tour of her house. As she enters the house, she is shocked to see the two floors in the house. Exploring the interior of the house, she walks inside through a small door. She gets shocked seeing the two floors in the house. Further, exploring the house, she walks up the stairs where she spots a small bed on the second floor while the kitchen is set up on the ground floor.

The video that went viral on social media was shared by a travel vlogger going by the name ghumakkadlaali on Instagram. The video has garnered over 8 million views with over 346K likes. Moreover, the video has made netizens nostalgic. 

Commenting on the post, one user wrote, "Nature of beauty in village." (sic)

Another wrote, "Yes it's true, beautiful." (sic)

"Mud house = 200 years life, Concrete house = 30/40 years....actual katcha Ghar kaunsa hain :)" wrote a third user.

Well, several users also shared that they had seen a two-storey traditional mud house. However, it's completely rare.
