In a bizarre incident, a thief was captured reciting the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ and offering Rs 10 at the feet of the deity before looting Rs 5,000 from the donation box at a Temple in Haryana.

The unusual incident has been reported from a temple in Rewari. The CCTV footage of the man reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ before committing the crime has gone viral on social media.

As per the CCTV footage, the man goes to the temple situated in Dharuhera town of Haryana, pretending to be a devotee. He sits at the feet of the deity like an innocent man and starts chanting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. Later, he begins reading a book kept near the deity.

He continues to behave like a devotee and chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ as other followers arrive and offer their prayers at the temple. After seeing a priest, he takes out Rs 10 currency note from his pocket and offers it at the deity’s feet.

After a few minutes, when no one is around, he darts his eyes from one end of the room to another, snatches a handful of money from the donation box, and hides it inside his clothes before fleeing. After realising the theft, the temple priest alerted the authorities concerned who inspected the CCTV camera to find the thief.

Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab the man who is currently absconding.
