Teacher’s eye-banding awareness activity highlights dangers of excessive Smartphone use among students - Watch

Many kids spend most of their time using their parents' phones, playing games, watching YouTube videos, and scrolling through social media.

This often distracts them from their surroundings, as their minds are fully engaged with their smartphones. Parents and teachers try to reduce this usage, but it doesn’t always work.

Recently, a mobile awareness activity at Aims Inter College in Gonda, UP, aimed to educate students about smartphone usage, and the video of this event went viral on social media.

In the classroom, a teacher created awareness by bandaging her eyes and making them look as if they had been injured, with red marks on her hands to simulate blood.

When she entered the class, the students were shocked and asked, “Ma’am, what happened?” She explained, “I used my phone too much, and then it blasted, which caused pain in my eyes. I had to visit the doctor.”

The students were taken aback by her words. After that, another teacher handed smartphones to the students, but they were reluctant to use them.

When asked if they would use the phones, the little ones replied, “No, ma’am.” The teacher then asked for a promise, and the students raised their hands in agreement.

So far, it has received 24.1 million views and 487K likes, with many users praising the initiative in the comments section.

One user commented, “This is a great example of keeping children away from mobile phones. Salute to the ma’am and sir, very good!”

Another said, “Something similar should be done for Cocomelon. Just hearing its name gets kids excited.”

A different user remarked, “I thought it was real for a second!”

Finally, one user pointed out, “Good activity, but in two days, the kids will be back on their phones because their parents use them 24/7.”
