In a disturbing incident that has raised concerns about youth violence and mental health, a 15-year-old girl allegedly attacked a shopkeeper with a blade after he refused to return or exchange goods she had purchased. The incident occurred in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, and was captured on CCTV camera, footage of which has since been submitted to the police as evidence.

The video shows the young girl engaging in a verbal altercation with the shopkeeper before suddenly launching an attack with a blade. A woman, believed to be another customer or a relative of the shopkeeper, quickly intervened and restrained the girl before further harm could be done.

Frequent Customer Turned Violent

According to Dev Saini, the shopkeeper’s brother, the girl had been a frequent visitor to their store and had a history of attempting to return or exchange previously purchased items. “This time, we had already informed her that no returns or exchanges would be allowed,” said Saini. “She became aggressive, began abusing us, and threatened to use a blade. Despite this, we eventually agreed to refund her money and asked her to leave.”

Shockingly, after receiving the refund, the girl turned around and attacked Saini’s brother with the blade. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening.

Police Involvement and Mental Health Concerns

The girl was detained by locals and handed over to the police, who later confirmed that she is a minor and suffers from a mental health condition. Authorities have stated that the case will be processed through the juvenile justice system in accordance with existing legal procedures.

Police are currently investigating the matter further, while also reviewing the girl’s medical history. The incident has sparked a wider conversation around mental health support for adolescents and the importance of early intervention in behavioural issues.
